Now You Can Receive a Free Credit Report Every Week, Forever

Regularly monitoring your credit history reduces the likelihood that reporting errors (at best) or identity theft (at worst) will undermine your financial health—and now you can do it for free every week indefinitely through Equifax, Experian and TransUnion . .

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, each credit bureau offered one free credit report per year, meaning consumers could typically get three reports per year before having to pay up to $14 per request. The same reports were provided weekly at no additional cost in early 2020, and the program was extended several times, ultimately until December 2023 .

Free access to weekly credit reports is now permanent, making it easier for you to regularly monitor your report. While you probably don’t need to request multiple reports every week, you should check your credit monthly (at least quarterly) or whenever you apply for financing.

How to Get a Free Weekly Credit Report

Free credit reports are available at AnnualCreditReport.com via an online form. You’ll need to provide some basic information, such as your name, Social Security number, date of birth and address(es), as well as select the bureau you want to obtain a report from and answer a few security screening questions.

You can also mail the downloadable form or call 1-877-322-8228 to confirm your request over the phone.

Please note that your credit report does not include your credit score. Many credit card companies provide credit scores to customers for free, but keep in mind that lenders use different scoring models.
