Your IPhone Can Now Find the Apple TV Remote

The Apple TV remote certainly has a sleek design, but that doesn’t always work in its favor. Because of its design, the remote control can slip into the tiny nooks and crannies of your sofa, and isn’t easy to find if it gets lost. Sometimes it’s easier to use your iPhone as an Apple TV remote than to rummage around your living room for something real.

Too many Apple employees may also be fed up with this experience, as the company has released a new feature to address the issue. You can now use your iPhone to find your lost Apple TV remote, and it works just like finding an AirTag .

How to find a lost Apple TV remote

This new feature works when you update your iPhone to iOS 17 and Apple TV to tvOS 17. If your iPhone or Apple TV doesn’t support these software versions , you won’t be able to use this feature. According to Apple , this feature works with both the Apple TV remote and the new Siri Remote .

First, you should add the Apple TV remote to Control Center on your iPhone. To do this, go to Settings > Control Center , scroll down and tap the + button next to the Apple TV Remote. Then swipe down from the top right corner of your iPhone screen to open Control Center and select the Apple TV remote icon. (If your iPhone has a Home button, you can open Control Center by swiping up from the bottom edge of the screen.)

Tap the list of devices at the top of the screen and select the correct Apple TV from the list. Then click Find next to your lost Apple TV remote. Follow the onscreen instructions to find the remote. It will tell you when you are getting closer or further away.
