Samsung SmartThings Station on Sale This Weekend for $1

Over the next few days, Samsung will practically be giving away its new smart home hub—the SmartThings Station—if you’re quick enough to snag it. For $1 , a limited number of people can get one each day starting around noon ET through September 17th.

How smart home hubs make it easier to control many smart home devices

Smart home hubs are the next big thing in smart home technology, allowing you to control all your devices, regardless of manufacturer, with one control. Typically these are apps like Google Home, Apple Homekit, Alexa or Smartthings. But we’re starting to see physical manifestations of these applications, so you have a place in your home where you can physically influence all of your smart home devices.

The Samsung SmartThings Station is just that, a device that you can install anywhere in your home and control lights, alarms, speakers, and everything else that works through your SmartThings app.

For device users, Samsung Station makes a lot of sense.

As hubs go, the Station looks less tech-heavy than others like the Apple HomePod, Google Nest Hub, or Echo Show. It also acts as a charging station and can track your headphones in some cases (if they’re part of Samsung’s solar system; otherwise, you’ll have to wait until Materia shows up for real). By the way, the Station supports Matter and Threads, so it is promising.

The station usually retails for $60, so while it’s a bargain, it’s still quite affordable if you miss the sale. However, if you’re already connected to SmartThings or have a Samsung phone, washing machine, headphones or lights, it might make sense to use a charging pad that can also track your phone or keep your dryer running. For everyone else, you can run devices running SmartThings and eventually Matter or Threads enabled devices.

To score the deal, head here around noon ET to watch a product video and receive a promo code. If you receive an “invalid code” message at checkout, it means all $1 promo codes have been redeemed for the day, but you can try again every day until September 17th.

It’s part of an event called Discover Samsung , which features a number of other really worthwhile sales, so it’s worth a look. For example, Buds Pro 2 is now almost 50% off, and Samsung equipment is also on impressive sales.
