Who Is Dinata and Why Are They Calling You?

If you have a phone, chances are Dynata has called you at some point and asked if you would participate in a survey. Given the prevalence of scams and spam calls these days, one might assume that Dynata is no different from robocalls claiming to contain “important information about your car insurance,” but Dynata’s surveys are entirely legitimate.

What does Dinata do?

Dynata conducts surveys on behalf of companies, political groups and other organizations seeking feedback from the general public on current trends and opinions. The company has been around in one form or another since 1999, and most of its surveys are conducted by telephone.

But while Dynata is a legitimate company, that doesn’t mean everyone is interested in taking their surveys. Some of these surveys can take an hour or more in some cases, rarely offer any reward or compensation for your time, and there is no guarantee that the company will even take your feedback into account.

However, Dynata’s real problem is how often they will contact potential participants. The company will call any time of the day or night and ask you to share your latest surveys. This is annoying and just another random phone call to ignore. Luckily, there are several ways to prevent Dynata from contacting you.

How to block Dynata calls

First, try removing your contact information from your Dynata calling list. To do this, you must call Dynata’s official helpline (1-833-757-1746 for North America or 1-801-341-0764 for other regions) and opt out of participating in Dynata surveys.

In most cases, this should be enough to stop Dinata calling. However, some respondents claim that Dynata continues to call them even after they have refused to participate in surveys and removed their phone numbers from the call list. In this case, you should block Dynata number in your Android or iOS phone settings. You might even want to go to this step even if Dynata isn’t contacting you, just to make sure the company’s calls aren’t getting through.

On Android:

  1. Open the Phone app, tap the three-dot More menu, then select Call History.
  2. Select your Dynata number, then click Block/Report Spam.
  3. You can also add blocked numbers in the Phone app under Settings > Blocked Numbers.

On iOS:

  1. Open the Phone app and select the Recents tab.
  2. Tap the “i” icon next to Dynata’s call history, then scroll down and select “Block Contact.”
  3. Alternatively, you can add the number in the iOS Settings menu under Phone > Blocked Contacts > Add New….

Beware of fake Dynata calls

To be clear, blocking Dynata will not improve the security of your data: it is just a useful solution if you are tired of their calls. Dynata is a real company, and there’s nothing wrong with taking their surveys if you’re interested – as long as you know it’s a real call from Dynata. Scammers may contact you claiming to be Dynata to trick you into handing over sensitive personal information or selling you something, as with other online or telephone scams.

Dynata collects and stores a small amount of information about survey participants, but the company never requests sensitive personal information, such as:

  • Your Social Security Number
  • Financial information such as credit card or bank account numbers.
  • Logins or passwords for mail or applications

Likewise, Dynata does not require participants to answer all questions. The company does not sell anything, does not charge you to take surveys, and does not require access to your phone, computer or other devices. If someone calls claiming to be with Dynata and asking for any information, trying to get money from you, or asking for remote access to your devices, hang up – it’s a scam.
