You Can Try the Payday 3 Open Beta Right Now

Payday 3 is scheduled to release on September 21, 2023, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait until then to play it. Developer Starbreeze Studios is running a new open beta for the online multiplayer heist game, but you’ll need to act fast if you want to take advantage of it.

As the name suggests, Payday 3 is the third game in the Payday series, following 2013’s Payday 2 . (I like series that call sequels easy to understand.) This beta won’t showcase the entire game, however; rather just part of it. Starbreeze reports that the beta features one heist and four heists, with most, but not all, of the weapons and cosmetics available to try.

How to Play Payday 3 Beta

Starbreeze began hosting a new open beta on Friday, September 8th at 10am ET, which means you can get started starting with this article. However, take advantage of the beta while it lasts, as Starbreeze will close testing on Monday, September 11th at 4 a.m. ET.

As long as you’re reading this before 4am on the 11th, you can still upgrade to the beta and try out Payday 3 . You can do this from your PC or Xbox.

In addition to launching the open beta this weekend, Starbreeze is touting a server hit: the developer wants as many players as possible to log into Payday 3 to stress test the servers and, if possible, crash them. This way, they can fix potential issues before the game officially launches later this month. These server strikes will take place at 7:00 pm ET today, September 8th, and at 12:00 pm ET on September 10th.

This beta test follows the initial closed beta test that took place back in August . The actual build of the game is the same this time around, with Starbreeze saying its goal in the first beta was to test the servers, and now the goal is to break it.

If you have feedback on any part of the beta, you can submit it here .
