Amazon Music Unlimited , Amazon’s battleground in the streaming music wars, is getting a Prime Day deal. Right now, you can get four months of subscription to the music streaming service if you sign up before July 13th.

Amazon Music Unlimited usually costs you $10.99 per month (and you’ll be signed up for auto-renewal unless you cancel after the free trial), which gives you ad-free access to a premium streaming library. If you’re an Amazon Prime member or own an Echo, Fire TV, or Amazon Tap smart speaker, you can get a discounted monthly subscription for $8.99/month.

What is Amazon Unlimited Music?

Amazon Music Unlimited is an offline music streaming service offering over 100 million music tracks. Not to be confused with Amazon Music Free and Amazon Music Prime (free for Prime members). Should I buy Amazon Music Unlimited for Prime members?

Prime members already get Music Prime for free, so is it worth paying for Music Unlimited? While Music Prime offers the same catalog as Music Unlimited, you can’t play everything you want on demand – your music selection is always jumbled. Music Unlimited gives you full control, so you can listen to one song after another or the entire album.

Typically, Prime subscribers get a $2 rebate on monthly fees, bringing the price down to $8.99 per month or $89 for an annual plan (separate fee from Prime’s $139 annual fee).

You also have the option to choose a family plan for $15.99/month or $159/year for up to six people. It’s the same price as Spotify and cheaper than the Apple Music family plan.

What are the benefits and limitations of Amazon Music Unlimited?

You can stream over 100 million songs and podcasts and listen to HD and Ultra HD audio (although only in the app, not in a web browser). You’ll also enjoy compatibility with Amazon devices if you have an Alexa-enabled speaker or TV. Music Unlimited lacks a live radio feature, but does have ad-supported playlists and thousands of stations that act like radios that you can access over the web, Amazon Music mobile apps, Echo smart speakers, and Fire TV devices.

Owners of Amazon Echos, Echo Dots, Echo Looks, Echo Shows, Amazon Fire TV, or Amazon Taps can get a discounted subscription plan. For a monthly fee of $4.99, you get access to Music Unlimited on one device. However, you cannot listen to high-res audio with this plan.
