Finally There Is a Way to Turn Off Spam Calls on WhatsApp

WhatsApp VoIP calls are fast, free, and often better than legacy cell phone calls (assuming your Wi-Fi is strong enough). In some parts of the world, it has even become the default way to call people. However, with all this popularity comes an epidemic of spam calls. Whether you rely on WhatsApp or a traditional phone app, the spammers are not letting up.

If you’ve been receiving spam calls from random numbers (probably from different countries) at odd times, there’s good news. Meta has a new WhatsApp feature that disables all calls from unknown numbers by default. You’ll still get a call notification and you’ll see it in your call logs, but that’s it – a WhatsApp call from an unknown number will no longer wake you up in the middle of the night.

How to Silence All Unknown Callers on WhatsApp

The function is easy to activate. First, make sure you have updated WhatsApp to the latest version, then go to Settings > Privacy > Calls . Here, turn on the ” Disable unknown caller ” feature and you’re done!

While you’re in Settings , we suggest you also take a look at WhatsApp’s new privacy check feature. You will find it at the top of the privacy page. Through a simple step-by-step process, you’ll be able to control who can contact you, who has access to your personal information, and learn how to protect your account.

Here is what we offer regarding privacy:

  • Choose who can contact you : In this section, prevent someone from randomly adding you to groups and check your blocked contacts.
  • Control your personal information : Here you can check who can access your profile photo, last visit status, and read receipts (you don’t have to share this data).
  • Add more privacy to your chats : here we suggest you enable end-to-end encrypted backup.
  • Add more protection to your account : It’s best to enable two-step verification to protect your WhatsApp data from being hacked. For added security, you can enable a screen lock specifically for the WhatsApp app.
