You Can Try the New Features of Google Bard Right Now

Google Bard may not have the most memorable name, but it is based on one of the biggest names in technology. This makes Bard a major player in AI, along with other giants such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing Chat . Google is now rolling out new features to Bard, including updates that were announced last week at the big I/O event .

What’s new in Google Bard?

First, Bard users now have the option to export part of a Bard conversation to both Google Docs and Gmail. You can imagine this feature will come in handy when you ask Bard to plan a presentation and you want to move it to the appropriate collaborative document or if you need help creating an important email. Either way, you can hit the share icon on Bard’s answer and then choose where to export it.

Next, Bard now supports dark mode for the first time, an announcement that was met with applause from I/O attendees. It’s easy to find, too: there’s now a “Use Dark Theme” button at the bottom left of the screen that you can use to switch between modes. Finally, Google is making Bard available to Workspace accounts rather than standard Google accounts. Workspace administrators can enable Bard support, so it may not work in your workspace plan if your administrator does not agree to use Bard.

Google also announced a couple of updates to Bard on Monday . AI now sums up better thanks to advances in Google’s large language models. Better yet, Bard now cites his sources: you’ll see the numbers appear in your answer whenever Bard lists a source, and you can click it to see the source directly. This makes it easy to check the answer and make sure the Bard isn’t hallucinating the answer .

How to sign up for Google Bard

While access to Bard used to be just for the waitlist, Google has opened up the AI bot to everyone. If you’re over 18 and have your own Google account (or a Workspace account set up for Bard), you can try it out yourself. To get started, go to the official Google Bard website and click “Try Bard”.
