What’s New on Disney+ in May 2023

Everything, everywhere at once on Disney+ this month as the streamer unveils a new limited series based on the acclaimed graphic novel, featuring most of the cast from this year’s best film-winning hit, as well as episodes from two Star Wars series and new series. series with musical puppets.

The most exciting debut of the month is Chinese-Born American (May 24), a vibrant adaptation of Gene Luen Yang’s acclaimed 2006 graphic novel exploring Asian-American cultural experiences told in three overlapping stories from a fantasy adventure based on The Monkey King, a character in the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West ; to the contemporary story of an immigrant child who struggles with racism, cultural assimilation and embraces his heritage. The eight-episode adaptation reunites the award-winning cast of last year’s groundbreaking sci-fi hit “Everything Everywhere at Once ” along with Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Xu, James Hong and Ke Hai Quan. Based on the trailer, it seems like he’s happy to dive into the most colorful aspects of the story.

In addition, two Star Wars animated series will also premiere this month. Star Wars: Visions , Vol. 2 (May 4) is offering nine new animated short films from studios around the world .
