The Most (and Least) Pet-Friendly Cities in the US

Considering that many people who have pets consider their furry (or scaly, feathered, etc.) friends to be part of their family, it makes sense to include their pet in their future plans, for example, if they move to a new city. But not all urban areas are equally convenient. According to a Forbes Advisor report , here are the most and least pet-friendly cities in the US.

What makes a city “pet-friendly”?

To find out which urban areas made this list, Forbes Advisor compared the 91 most populous cities for which data was available on 13 indicators covering the following four key categories:

  1. The cost of veterinary treatment for dogs
  2. The cost of veterinary treatment for cats
  3. Veterinary Access
  4. Places for pets

Points were awarded for each of the indicators, and then calculated for each city. The ideal score is 100 points.
