All New Android Features Coming in the Next Release of Pixel Drop

The astute Google viewer will notice that the company is late with its next release of the Pixel Feature Drop . We usually expect to see the last update on the first Monday of the month, which would be yesterday, March 6th. Alas, there was no update. But we don’t have to wait for Google to know what’s going on: the content of the update appears to have been leaked.

As reported by 9to5Google , we now have a changelog for the March release of the Pixel Feature, and while it’s not the most exciting update Google has ever released, there are some interesting changes worth noting.

First, the Pixel Watch is getting fall detection . This is a great smartwatch feature: if you fall hard, your watch will give you the option to call emergency services. ( Just don’t expect him to wake you up in time .)

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have improved Night Sight. According to Google, this feature “can now take low-light photos even faster” thanks to improved algorithms with the Google Tensor chip, a welcome addition every time we take photos in the dark. Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro users already had the improved Night Sight speed, so it’s good to see it being carried over to older devices.

Speaking of older devices, Pixel 4a and Pixel 5a users will now have access to Direct My Call . This feature works when you reach an automated directory (also known as a robot) and displays the various options you would normally listen for on the screen. Instead of waiting for the robot to read all the options, you can view them with ease.

Finally, Health Connect is now available as a built-in app on Pixel devices. Health Connect allows apps to share health data with each other and gives you control over how each of those apps has access to that data.

That’s all there is to the leak. However, it is possible, if unlikely, that more changes are included in the update than are listed in the changelog. Once Google actually launches the Feature Drop this month, we’ll be able to dive in and check out exactly what’s new.
