Don’t Rely on the Pixel Watch to Wake You Up

The best alarm clock is the one on your wrist. A smartwatch can wake you up with a gentle touch instead of an alarm ringing, making the morning more peaceful for you and for anyone who might otherwise be woken up by your traditional alarm clock. But whatever device you use as an alarm clock, you expect it to go off exactly at the time you set. Apparently, Google’s Pixel Watch missed this note.

According to 9to5Google , Pixel Watch users have noticed that their alarm goes off late, and in some cases even earlier. Judging by the current queue of complaints, the delay isn’t all that great, usually between one and ten minutes at a time. It also seems to affect alarms specifically set for the morning. So the current theory is that the issue is with the Pixel Watch waking up from sleep, which could make it unable to sound the alarm exactly at the minute you chose earlier.

But we can’t ignore the elephant in the room: the Pixel Watch has a problem with beeping at just the right time. You have to be sure that the alarm will go off when you set it, otherwise what’s the point? Should you set your Pixel Watch to 6:50 AM instead of 7 AM if it decides to wait another 10 minutes to turn off? Well, instead, it could turn around and explode at 6:47 in the morning.

Of course, the delay does not exceed 10 minutes yet, but who said that this will not change? Perhaps one day the bug decides to wait 20 minutes or an hour to turn off the sound. You set your alarm for 7 am, but now you wake up at 8 am, which is late. If I had a Pixel Watch, I wouldn’t trust it.

Until Google fixes the problem with an official patch, it’s probably safer to settle for a different wake device. If you have an iPhone or an old one, you can use its hidden alarm sounds , which are much nicer than the default options.
