Is Gold Star membership worth it compared to other options?
Costco offers four different memberships: Executive Membership, Gold Star Membership, Business Executive Membership, and Everyday Value Business Membership. If you don’t have a business, you really only have the Executive or Gold Star options, as the latter two require some form of business identification , such as a business license.
Executive and Gold Star membership gives you an additional family card that you can gift to someone over 18 who lives at your address. They both also allow you to use Costco gas stations (where you’ll be able to save money on every gallon as a member ) and access some of Costco’s services, such as their hearing aids, optical clinics, and pharmacy. But the Executive Membership offers some extra perks for an extra $60 per year ($120 total). This gives you a 2% cash reward , which you will receive as a check at the end of the year, access to additional services such as discounted car and home insurance, membership in their car program that offers discounts on car maintenance and repairs, and additional advantages. on select Costco travel products. If you’re wondering if it’s worth paying the extra $30 for an Executive Membership, please note that you’ll also be waiving the $30 digital gift card as this offer is only valid for Gold Membership registrations. But if you think you’ll spend enough at Costco over the next 12 months to make the 2% reward go over $60 (or about $3,000 on most items except for gasoline, cigarettes, and a few other exceptions), you still I will come forward.
