Shower Hooks Are Here to Organize Your Trousers

Wardrobe organization is my passion, but also my punishment. I live in a small apartment in New York, but gosh, I love clothes. And I can’t fit them all in my closet, so I have to get creative, but often that doesn’t work. Even when I stuff everything in there, I can’t see what I have, which is why I don’t wear some of my best stuff by default. However, a TikTok hack can solve this problem – at least for your pants. All you need is a set of shower curtain hooks.

While I’m usually a proponent of buying the cheapest option in any situation, for this trick, you should consider getting hooks that feel sturdy, especially if the pants you’re trying to organize are as heavy as jeans. To hang one pair on each hook, fold the pants loosely in half along the waistband. Pass the bottom of the hook through the belt loop on both sides of the garment, then use the top curve to hang the trousers on a coat hanger.

Now your pants are visible so you know what you have, and taking them off and putting them back on is much easier than when you have to use a tightly flattened hanger. (Another way to remember which jeans you have in your closet is to use hanging labels, which we cover here .)

Word of warning though

This is more of an organizational trick than a way to save space, so you might be tempted to hang two pairs on a hook, or align the hooks along a hanger, down a chain, or similar so you can put on more pants. that rack. Just be careful. I successfully did this once, using a dollar store hanging air dryer rack to pack three times as many clothes as I normally have on my rack. The stand, of course, broke in half.

Also keep in mind that some jeans can be too heavy for this – keep an eye on the belt loops to make sure they don’t stretch beyond their useful limit.
