This Canned Meat and Poultry May Be Contaminated

Conagra Brands Inc. is recalling 2.58 million pounds of canned meat and poultry products due to a packaging defect that left some of their cans contaminated – with no physical signs of food spoilage, according to the US Department. agriculture (USDA).

The problem was discovered when the company noticed several spoiled, leaking cans of different production dates in its warehouses. After investigating, they found that the jars could have been damaged in a subtle way that might not be noticeable to customers but allowed foodborne pathogens to enter the jars.

Which banks are responding?

The recalled infected jars are printed with the facility number “P4247”. They were produced between December 12, 2022 and January 13, 2023 and shipped to retailers across the country. Several products with different names and brands have been recalled, including Armor Star, Great Value, Goya, Hagris House and Kroger. Check out the full list here from the USDA. What to do with the recalled banks?

The USDA urges you not to consume the products (if you already have and are concerned about your health, you should contact your health care provider). While there have been no reports of people getting sick from eating this food, the USDA recommends that these products be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
