You Are Not Cleaning Your Mirror Correctly.

In theory, cleaning a mirror shouldn’t be difficult. A few splashes of cleaner and then a thorough wipe should seem to leave you with a shiny, streak-free reflective surface. But all too often this is not the case.

If this sounds familiar, you may not be cleaning your mirror correctly. Here are some common mistakes to avoid.

Avoid These Mirror Cleaning Mistakes

While there is a lot of focus on using the right mirror cleaning product, many of the most common mistakes are related to the technique and what is used to wipe. Here are some examples of such errors:

Use of paper towels

As comfortable as they are, when you wipe your mirror with paper towels, they usually leave some lint behind, making it look permanently dirty. Instead, use a clean microfiber cloth that won’t leave streaks or lint.

Not dusting first

Dust buildup is part of what makes your mirror dirty. And when you immediately start using the cleaner without wiping the dust, the dust gets wet and then spreads over the mirror. The process will be easier if you wipe the mirror with a clean, damp microfiber cloth to remove any dust first.

Using a dirty cloth or sponge

Always wipe the mirror with a fresh, clean cloth. The one you used to clean the rest of the room is dirty and will make your mirror look even worse.

Spraying the cleaner on the mirror

Are you doing everything right but still getting a striped mirror? Some people find that this can be taken care of by applying the cleaner to the fabric instead of directly to the mirror.

When you spray on a mirror, it’s easy to overdo it and use far more cleaner than you actually need. If this happens it can lead to dripping and eventually streaks. Spraying the fabric instead of a mirror prevents this.
