31 of Our Favorite TV Shows That Were Canceled in 2022

It wasn’t the best year for the shows you like. If you mainly watch crime series like CSI , NCIS and Blue Bloods , or shows adjoining Yellowstone , then you’re probably fine; otherwise, there is a good chance that you have felt the loss of your favorite show.

The biggest culprit is The CW. After the Nester Media purchase, the network got rid of nearly all of its original programming, with ten series canceled entirely, and The Flash , Nancy Drew and Riverdale all ending, presumably on their own terms. Surviving shows like ” Kung Fu “, “Superman & Lois ” and “The Walker ” don’t look terribly safe.

Meanwhile, streamers have shown that they are much less likely to stick around for shows that aren’t hitting the hottest numbers at any given time. Netflix, for example, is dropping several shows; and then there’s HBO, which has adopted a “cancel then dump” strategy, worrying less about ending stories than dumping underperforming shows down the nearest well.

In addition, an excessive number of decently performing LGBT shows have been canceled this year (the phenomenon has received its own #CancelYourGays hashtag). It’s a little hard to quantify with everything that’s been canceled this year, but the end result is that next season will be a lot less weird. In 2023, I’m going to save myself the grief and only watch old shows that I know have ended on their own terms. Here’s what’s been canceled this year.
