You Can (Mostly) Get an Xbox Series S for $200 Right Now

It’s been two years since Microsoft released its Xbox Series S, and the price has finally dropped below the $300 mark for the holidays: Microsoft announced that their simpler and sleeker Xbox Series S model (compared to the larger, more powerful Series X) will be $50 off during the holiday season, for a total of $250. But there is another deal that you can also take advantage of for a limited time.

What is the Xbox Series S deal?

Target is offering a $50 gift card to those who purchase an Xbox Series S online by Saturday, November 19th. However, there is no delivery option, you must pick it up at the store. That means you can get an Xbox Series S for a net spend of $200 if you plan to spend at least $50 at Target. Target also offers a ” RedCard ” credit card that you can use to save an extra 5%. And Target has promised that if the price of the Xbox Series S falls lower before December 24, Target will refund the difference through its price matching program .

Why buy the Xbox Series S now?

The benefit of buying an Xbox Series S now rather than two years ago is that there are tons of great games to choose from, as well as a Game Pass option with a monthly subscription. Just be aware of the following Xbox Series S limitations:

  • You can only play digital games on Series S, meaning you can’t use physical discs. You must buy digital codes online.
  • While the console advertises 500GB of space, you can only really use 364GB of space , which is between 15 and 20 games.
  • Unlike its older sibling, the Series X, you won’t get Xbox games in 4K resolution. Check out a more detailed console comparison from Wirecutter .
