8 Things Americans Worry Most About (and a Little Hope for Everyone)

A recently released Harris poll, conducted on behalf of the American Psychological Association , paints a grim picture of America’s discontent. We have become disillusioned with the government, see our nation engulfed in violence and crime, and feel more and more financially insecure. In other words, everyone experiences stress; so stressed that more than a quarter of us (27%) report that we can’t work most days.

The despondency of national sentiment cannot be denied, but are our national fears reasonable? How much of our anxiety is the product of real events, and how much is the result of a distorted worldview represented by the flashy mirrors of social media and the media?

Because I’m an adversary and an optimist (and perhaps to make myself feel better), I looked at the eight things that Americans are most likely to experience stress in the APA survey, and tried to find the reason why each of them might not be so dangerous. bad as they seem.
