Always Check the Australian Site Before Booking Airbnb

If you’re like most people, you get frustrated when you try to book a place on Airbnb only to find that the extra fees put the property out of your budget. However, there is a way around this. Here’s how you can see the total cost of your booking right on the search page.

How to See Total Cost in Airbnb Search

First, go to the Australian Airbnb site . Then search as usual by entering all the important details of your stay. You will see listings that show only the total cost of your stay, including all taxes and fees. Note. The Australian site will initially display prices in Australian dollars, but you can change the price to US dollars by clicking on the little globe icon in the top right corner of the page.

Compare that to what you’ll see when you search the US site – both the price per night and the total, which isn’t really a total (only $698 on the US Airbnb site and $799 on the Australian Airbnb site) .

Then filter your search results by total price, not price per night. This total cost will include the cost of any associated taxes and fees (including cleaning fees). Being able to filter by total price rather than price per night will really help if you’re trying to stick to a certain budget.

Finally, come back and book on the US site. You won’t want to complete your booking on an Australian site because Australia charges value added tax (VAT) on Airbnb fees. So, the next time you’re planning a trip and booking through Airbnb, be sure to check out the Australian Airbnb site – it will save you the frustration of searching.
