Don’t Eat Recalled Bob Evans Sausage, Which May Contain Blue Rubber

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that Bob Evans Farms Foods, Inc. is recalling about 7,560 pounds of Italian pork sausages due to possible foreign matter contamination, specifically “thin blue rubber”.

The problem was discovered after consumers complained to Bob Evans Farms Foods about thin blue pieces of rubber found in the sausage. No health problems have been officially reported to FSIS as a result of eating contaminated foods.

What products are being recalled?

Only Italian pork sausages produced on September 8, 2022 were recalled with the following data:

  • One pound chub “Italian Bob Evans Sausage” with lot code XEN3663466 and date “USE/FRZ BY” of November 26, 2022 with a time stamp between 2:43 pm and 3:25 pm.
  • The products of the institution number “EST. 6785” found inside the USDA verification mark.

If you have Bob Evans Sausage in your fridge, FSIS recommends checking to see if it’s included in the recall. You can find the relevant information label here . The sausage was sold to retailers across the country.

What if you have a potentially infected sausage?

FSIS recommends that you do not eat contaminated Italian sausage if you bought it. Instead, they recommend recycling it or returning it to where you originally bought it.
