All the Best New Features in Firefox 106

Mozilla has just released the latest version of its popular Firefox 106 web browser, and this version comes with some powerful new features, most notably a revised PDF viewer (long awaited). If you’re a Firefox user or if you’re tempted to switch browsers, here’s what you can expect from this latest version of Firefox.

Annotate your PDFs in Firefox

You can now do basic PDF editing in Firefox. The browser allows you to fill out PDF forms, add your signature and annotations. It’s nowhere near as powerful as dedicated PDF editing apps, but it’s good enough for most people, especially those who don’t want a standalone app when in-browser tools work just fine. Whether you need to sign a contract or fill out a form or two, Firefox’s built-in PDF editor will suffice.

Text recognition support on your Mac

This new version of Firefox now supports the useful OCR feature in macOS. This integration will allow you to copy text from images even if you are using Firefox. This way you don’t have to download the image first to extract the text you want to move to another location. In addition, this feature supports your Mac’s VoiceOver feature, which can read text from images aloud.

To use this feature, you need to be running macOS 10.15 or later.

Pin private browsing mode to the taskbar

Firefox 106 also makes it easier to access private browsing. You can now pin a shortcut to start a private Firefox session on the Windows taskbar.

Try the new look of Firefox

Firefox now makes it easier to sync browsing data across devices. If you use Firefox on your smartphone and computer, you can use Firefox’s browsing feature to find tabs you have open on other devices, as well as recently closed tabs.

Once you’ve installed Firefox 106, you can click the Firefox icon in the top left corner of your screen to access the Firefox view. You can also use new themes launched in this version of Firefox on this page. From here, you can choose a color scheme that suits your personality or current mood.
