These E-Bikes From Amazon and Walmart Have Been Recalled

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced last week that about 22,000 e-bikes sold online by Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Overstock and Sears (among other retailers) have been recalled. Electric bike manufacturer Ancheer said it is issuing the voluntary recall because “lithium-ion batteries can ignite, explode, or spark under certain circumstances, creating a fire, explosion, and burn hazard to consumers.”

What motorcycles are being recalled?

The recall concerns Ancheer e-bikes model AM001907: according to the US CPSC , the company has received six reports of incidents involving fire, explosions or sparks from riders so far. Four of these incidents involved burns.

The bike model is listed on the packaging and in the instruction manual, but not on the bike itself. One way to know you have a recalled model is that the cylindrical battery resembles a water bottle right above the “Ancheer” logo in white print on the bike’s frame. The bike also has 26-inch wheels.

Between January 2016 and June 2022, recalled bikes were sold on the following websites for between $280 and $930: aliexpress.com, ancheer.shop, amazon.com, ebaby.com, newegg.com, overstock.com , rakuten.com, Sears. .com, walmart.com and wish.com .

What to do

Contact Ancheer for a free battery and battery holder replacement by calling (888) 661-1330 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ET, Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays. You can also contact the company via email at service@ancheer.shop or online at or at ancheer.shop and click “Reviews” at the top of the page for more information. The US CPSC recommends that riders not use e-bikes until they are provided with a free replacement battery and battery holder.
