Why You Should Spend Your Uber Rewards Soon

If you use Uber or Uber Eats frequently and are an Uber Rewards member, you should plan to use your remaining points and benefits over the next couple of months. Uber is ditching its free loyalty program in favor of a paid monthly subscription – Uber One – after October 31st.

The Uber Rewards Program was launched in 2018 and allowed members to earn points for Uber rides and purchases of Uber Eats, which could be redeemed for discounts and benefits through both Uber and other third party merchants (“Selected Rewards”). Members also earned points for membership levels, which unlocked additional perks such as upgrades and dedicated customer support.

If you’re enrolled in Uber Rewards, you’ll continue to earn points until August 31st and you’ll have until midnight October 31st local time to redeem your remaining benefits. Diamond members will still have access to phone support after this date.

Points are awarded at the rate of 1 per dollar spent on Uber Pool, Uber Express Pool and Uber Eats; 2 per dollar spent on UberX and XL, WAV/Assist, Select, Comfort and Connect; and $3 per dollar spent on black, black SUV, and green. Tips to the driver, external charges and promotions do not count towards points.

How to use Uber Rewards points

To check your points balance, open the Uber app and select Menu > Uber Rewards . In the Uber Eats app, this is in the “Account” section. To redeem points, click “Select Reward” and choose the option you want. You can also see how you used your past points in the History section.

Alternatives to Uber rewards

Unfortunately, Uber doesn’t replace its free loyalty option – instead, you’ll have to pay $9.99 a month to access an Uber One membership that gives you access to free Uber Eats deliveries and order discounts, as well as 5%. from Uber rides.

If it interferes with Uber usage and you have a Chase credit card, Lyft offers up to 10 reward points for every dollar spent on its service. It’s not quite the same as a loyalty program, but at least you get rewarded just by spending money on the rides themselves. (Lyft also has the Lyft Pink membership program, which starts at $9.99 a month.)
