These Apps Will Make You Fall Asleep

Even though most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep , for most of us, that number is elusive. No matter how hard you try to master a sleep routine that actually works , one of the biggest challenges is actually turning off your brain as soon as your head hits the pillow. Lots of apps track your sleep , but how about getting to that precious REM cycle?

If you need a little help putting your mind to sleep, here are a few apps that use guided meditation and other soundscapes to lull you into sleep.

For guided meditation: Headspace

Headspace is best known as a meditation app, but it also helps you fall asleep. It features “sleep telegrams” which are essentially adult bedtime stories designed to help you visualize calming meditative experiences. Controlled sound helps you immerse yourself in free space to fall asleep easily.

Cost: Free for selected content or $70/year for a full subscription.

Sometimes all you need is the right atmosphere for falling asleep. Noisli stands out as a sleep soundtrack app with a wide range of choices, from a summer storm to the hum of a coffee ship.

For temporary sleep: Pzizz

Don’t ask me how to pronounce the name of this app. All I know is that if you download it, you can set a timer for your sleep session. This is the best option if you need to take a nap and need a soothing soundtrack for that.
