These Family Dollar Personal Care Products Are Part of a Massive Recall

Family Dollar has over 8,000 stores nationwide in every state of Wilbur, Alaska, and Hawaii. In some rural areas, this is the only game in town, meaning that if you run out of toilet paper, coffee, or toothpaste, you can choose either a family dollar or a mini trip.

If this sounds familiar, you’ll probably want to take a few minutes to check out all the personal care or health products you’ve purchased at a discount retail store. Family Dollar is recalling more than 400 items in this category, according to a safety alert from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Here’s what you need to know.

Why is Family Dollar recalling personal care products?

In a statement provided by the FDA , Family Dollar announced a voluntary recall of more than 400 personal care items, as well as over-the-counter drugs and supplies, that were stored outside of specified temperature guidelines and were inadvertently shipped to locations in 47 states. Delaware avoided this problem, and there are no stores in Alaska or Hawaii).

Deliveries were made between May 1 and June 10, 2022 (or approximately thereafter). Family Dollar has already notified affected stores and asked staff to immediately check their stocks, quarantine and stop selling any recalled items. As of July 21, the retailer has received no consumer complaints or reports of illness related to the recall, according to the FDA .

What Family Dollar items are being recalled?

A complete list of over 400 personal care and health-related products can be found here at the link in the FDA Safety Alert. In addition to Family Dollar store brands such as Modesa and Family Wellness , the recall also includes products from the following brands:

  • Common sense
  • Johnson
  • Colgate
  • Ready in case
  • Pigeon
  • Dial
  • courteous
  • Soft soap
  • Cross
  • Hand and hammer
  • swan

What to do if you have purchased any of the recalled items

Return any of the recalled items to the Family Dollar store where you purchased them for a full refund – no receipt required. If you have any questions about a recall or products, you can contact Family Dollar Customer Service at 844-636-7687 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm EST.
