Children Can Still Eat for Free at These Restaurants
If your brows furrowed the last time you got a check at a restaurant, you’re not alone. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics , restaurant lunch prices are up 9% year-over-year. Inviting the family over for dinner is definitely not the cheapest meal option, but it doesn’t have to be overly expensive either. Despite the ever-troubling direction of our economy, a few restaurants still offer some sort of “kids eat free” promotion. Here are a few national and regional chain restaurants that you can invite the family to for dinner without breaking the bank.
Danny. Denny’s is running a promotion where children eat for free on Tuesdays from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm when purchasing an adult main course at the regular price. The details of the offer are, frankly, pretty good: customers get two free kids’ meals for every adult meal they buy, and can be used for kids under the age of 10. It should be noted that the promotion is valid only for lunches in the restaurant.
Mo’s Southwest Grill. Whatever day of the week you arrive, your child can eat for free at Moe’s Southwest Grill. Nationwide, Moe’s Southwest Grill offers free children’s meals to any child under the age of 12 with the purchase of an adult meal. Children’s meals include burritos, quesadillas or tacos, as well as a drink and cookies. The only stipulation is that adult admission must be over $6 and this offer cannot be combined with any other promotions.
Ruby Tuesday. Who can put a name on this deal? Ruby Tuesday offers free children’s meals with the purchase of an adult meal on Tuesdays from 5:00 pm until closing. The children’s menu includes several time-tested classics such as pizza, chicken burgers and cheeseburgers. If you’re hoping your child gets some nutritional value too, broccoli, roasted zucchini, and green beans can be a side dish. This offer is only valid for children under the age of 10.
ICOP . If you’re more into free breakfast, check out International House of Pancakes. IHOP offers one free children’s meal with the purchase of a full adult meal each day from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The children’s menu includes a variety of pancakes with eggs and bacon, a cheeseburger, chicken and waffles. The offer applies only to meals in the restaurant and cannot be combined with other promotions.
Chile . If you’d like to sign up for the free Chili Rewards Program, you can access frequent coupons for free baby food when you purchase one full-price meal. Unlike other promotions, there is no time limit for free Chili baby food, but that is because you are acting at the behest of the app that gives you free baby food. While not as convenient as the other options, I wouldn’t go against it; Chili’s free loyalty program actually comes with some solid perks like free chips and salsa anytime you spend over $5 for lunch, as well as a free birthday dessert. If you’re willing to sacrifice yourself to the whims of the algorithm in doing so, it’s ultimately worth it.
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit . Children can eat for free every Sunday at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit. This offer includes one free baby meal per check with a purchase of at least $12. The deal is valid for takeaway, delivery or dinner. Baby food consists of one of the meat, slider, or chicken nuggets, plus one side, a muffin, and a baby drink.
Tony Roma . Tony Roma’s offers free meals for children under the age of 12 all day on Sundays. Deal includes one free baby meal per regular meal purchased and only applies to restaurant meal orders; it cannot be combined with any other offers.
Fire department submarines . Firehouse Subs offers free combo meals for kids with the purchase of regular combo meals if you subscribe to their Birthday Treat program. The kids’ combo includes a six-inch sandwich, a 12-ounce drink, and dessert. This offer can be used at any time, but only once per child.
Famous Dave . Every Tuesday, Famous Dave’s Restaurant offers free children’s meals with the purchase of an adult meal. The children’s menu includes barbecue dishes of your choice (ribs, barbecue chicken, pork sandwich), as well as a side dish of your choice. This offer is valid all day long.
Red Robin . Not exactly free, Red Robin still deserves an honorable mention. If you visit one of their locations on a Wednesday, you can get 50% off every baby meal you order, up to four meals (for an adult meal). Baby food consists of a main course, a side dish and a drink. This offer is valid for food ordering, delivery and takeaway and is valid for children aged 11 and under.
