Where to Donate Locally to Help People Access Abortions

According to a leaked draft of an upcoming Supreme Court ruling , Roe v. Wade is on the verge of being overturned. What happens to abortion rights after that depends on which state you live in. As we explained earlier (when Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed, remember that?), some states have “trigger laws” which mean that abortion is automatically outlawed as soon as Row falls. Other states still have pre- Row abortion laws, which will subsequently come into effect again.

While the national effort to support women’s bodily autonomy is likely to see a flood of donations in the coming weeks, if you’re looking for ways to help right now, local abortion funds and independent clinics are some of the best places to donate. People in states that have anti-abortion laws will need a way to access health care in states where it is still legal, and the organizations listed below either run clinics, mail medications, arrange travel, or otherwise help people get the help they need.

And if you can’t decide, the National Abortion Fund Network distributes donations to 80 member organizations. You can also use their website to find a list of local funds by state .
