What’s New in Prime Video in May 2022
If you were to ask me to list the top 10 shows I once loved that I don’t think will make it into 2022, Kids in the Hall would be at the top. Yet Amazon has revived the series, which originally aired from 1989 to 1995 on Canadian TV and had a long run in the US on Comedy Central, for a new season that airs on May 13th. I don’t think the old episodes of the series aren’t funny anymore; the sketches are just as quirky and repulsive (in a good way) as ever. But many of his signature jokes — jokes that play on homosexual stereotypes and many that make men dress up for laughs — are sure to be hits nearly three decades later. However, the trailer seems to indicate that the cast, now in their sixties, is at least aware of the fact that time has passed them by, even if Amazon hasn’t:
Other new releases coming to Prime Video in May include a new season of The Wilds (May 6), a series about teenagers stranded in the wild that is n’t Showtime’s Yellowjackets ; Lovestruck High (May 18), a dating reality show that sends a group of adults back to a “high school-like environment” in search of love, which sounds very traumatic if you ask me; and Night Sky (May 20), a sci-fi drama starring Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons as a couple who discover a portal to another planet in their basement. Watch everything else on Prime Video in May.
