A Child Culture Guide for Disconnected Adults: Who Is Courtney Klenney?

If you are desperately trying to stay afloat in the swirling ocean of information and ephemera in which young people float so easily, please enjoy my poor attempt at building a life raft. The killer from OnlyFans surfaced this week, along with a cryptic hand gesture, alternative uses for pregnancy tests, and an explanation of what the hell is going on in Elden Ring.

OnlyFans Killer: Influencer Courtney Klenney Kills Boyfriend

Instagram and OnlyFans model Courtney Klenney has gone viral on the internet for a worse reason: she recently stabbed her boyfriend Christian “Toby” Oumseli to death in their Miami high-rise apartment. Clenny, known online as Courtney Taylor, claims the stabbings were in self-defense. Clenny told police that Oumseli pushed her to the ground and grabbed her by the neck before she stabbed him. The model was not delayed. Instead, she was interrogated by the police (as you can see in this video posted by TMZ of a blood-splattered Klennie being interrogated ) and taken to a mental hospital. She has since been released and no charges have been filed, but authorities say the investigation is ongoing. Instead of going to jail, Clenny gets kicked out of hotel bars by people who recognize her and aren’t fans, as you can see in this video .

Why do people hold up four fingers in photos?

Young people apparently pose for pictures with four fingers up, and this posing trend is not as annoying as the duck face , which became popular in the early 2000s, and not as unsettling as the recently popular white supremacy gesture . . What “raise fours” actually means is open to debate. Rapper DaBaby mentioned the gesture in a 2019 interview , but did not explain it. Urban Dictionary and Reddit users categorize this gesture as a gang sign. A more reasonable explanation can be found in football, where the gesture is used to signify: “ It’s the fourth quarter. Let’s go!” Regardless of what “fours up” means, if you’re over a certain age, you shouldn’t be trying to look cool by posing with fours up. It’s only okay for you if you’re going for “stupid, anti-cool” thing or trying to signal the waitress so you can collect the check.

TikTok hand signal saves lives

Speaking of four-finger gestures popular on the internet, a Tennessee woman reports that her life was saved by giving an internet-wide silent distress call to a stranger. The unnamed woman says she was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend who kept her trapped in his truck and threatened to kill her. The couple stopped at a gas station, and the victim showed her palm to the seller and closed her fingers on her thumb. The clerk recognized the gesture and called authorities, who arrested 31-year-old Jonathon Smith for kidnapping and domestic violence.

Teens warned not to eat pregnancy tests

According to doctors and police, it’s actually a bad idea to take home pregnancy tests apart and eat the disk in them. The bizarre warning came after a TikTok video (which has since been taken down) claimed that home pregnancy tests contained a plan B pill. They don’t. They contain a silica disc that prevents moisture from entering. “Brother, no. Don’t eat the pills you find on pregnancy tests,” said Dr. Karan Rajan in a TikTok response . “They are not Plan B or emergency contraception.”

Dr. Rajan’s warning was echoed by the pregnancy test maker in the original ClearBlue video. “We are aware of the circulating videos of Clearblue pregnancy tests and the pill found inside. Clearblue Pregnancy Tests DO NOT contain Plan B,” the company wrote on its website .

Viral Video of the Week: Elden Ring Lore Explained

I’ve been playing the epic RPG Elden Ring for about 80 hours now, and I have to admit, I have absolutely no idea what’s going on. I don’t know what “two fingers” is, why “Erdtree” should bother me, or why everyone I meet immediately tries to kill me. That’s where this week’s viral video comes in. YouTuber VaatiVidya has taken a deep dive into Elden lore with Elden Ring Lore: Explained , a half-hour explanation that breaks down the complex, freaky backstory of the Elden Ring universe. in an understandable way. VaatVidja is great at giving meaning to something complex. I want him to explain every aspect of the modern world to me in his soft, slightly British accent.
