Use This Trick to Get PlayStation Plus Premium at Half Price (Before Sony Fixes It)

Last week, Sony announced its upgraded “PlayStation Plus” subscription service, offering three different tiers that let you play online games as well as access exclusive games. If you want access to all the games on offer, including options for PS2, PS3, and PSP, you’ll need to put up with a $120/year subscription. Unless, of course, you’re using this workaround.

PlayStation Plus Premium essentially combines the current PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services: the former gives you access to online play of some exclusive games, while the latter gives you access to a large list of games to play. As such, Sony will automatically register any existing PlayStation Now account to a PlayStation Plus Premium account when the service launches in June.

It got people thinking: Why not sign up for PlayStation Now for a year, which only costs $60, and save on an account that should cost $120? While the logic was solid, Sony was one step ahead. The company has ditched the ability to buy PlayStation Now, except for its monthly price: You can still subscribe for $10 a month, but that’s the same $120 a year as PlayStation Plus Premium.

However, deal hunter Wario64 tweeted some good news : Sony was still offering an annual PlayStation Now subscription, but only through a specific link. If you follow this link and sign in with your PlayStation account, you can purchase a Now subscription for a year, which will turn into a PlayStation Plus Premium account at no additional charge.

However, the deal doesn’t end there. As it turns out, you can overlay these subscriptions on top of each other. Since the purchase is tied to your PlayStation account, you will be able to purchase PlayStation Now for the following year. IGN has confirmed that this staking works, and while no restrictions have been found, some users have been stacking their subscriptions as far back as 2031.

Since PlayStation Now turns into PlayStation Plus Premium in just two months, you’re effectively buying a more expensive service for half the price. For someone who subscribes to Premium for $120/year, you’ll spend $1,080 on the subscription from launch until 2031. By using this trick, you will spend half that amount, $540, saving over $500.

The news is already spreading, so it’s only a matter of time before Sony makes an executive decision to remove this link and the accompanying offer. If you know you’re going to subscribe to Premium anyway, you should consider this workaround while you still can.

How to save 50% on PlayStation Plus Premium right now

If you’re looking to save some serious money on PlayStation Plus Premium, visit this link in your browser (not via the PlayStation app). Sign in to your PlayStation account and then go to the pages to purchase an annual PlayStation Now subscription. You can then accumulate as many extra years of PlayStation Now (essentially PlayStation Plus Premium) as you like, saving 50% each time.
