9 Persistent Myths About American History (and What We Can Learn From Them)
What is the US anyway? Of course, this is a nation made up of 50 states covering most of the continent. But, as my 5th grade social studies textbook wants you to know, it is also made up of righteous people with a common history and a common set of beliefs and ideals that include truth, justice, and a better future. (Or, wait, maybe it’s Superman.)
In any case, the point is that Americans believe some really stupid nonsense about America and American history. Here are some of the biggest myths about our nation – and some thoughts on what we can learn from them.
