How to Donate Air Miles to Help Ukrainians

As the war in Ukraine unfolds over the past few weeks, it’s hard not to feel helpless. Although we are limited in our capacity, financial contributions to aid are encouraged.

But if you’re short on cash and have a few airline miles to spare, some airlines allow you to donate them to various organizations operating in Ukraine. Here’s how to help.

american airlines

Until the end of March, any AAdvantage Miles donated to the American Airlines Miles for Social Good program will go to Airlink , a global humanitarian organization that brings doctors and rescuers to Eastern Europe to help in Ukraine.

To donate miles, log in to your AAdvantage account and follow the instructions. Although the minimum donation is 1,000 miles, if you have less than 1,000 miles, you can donate your entire balance.

Delta

Delta SkyMiles members can also donate a minimum of 1,000 miles. To do this, visit this page of the Delta website. There you will find a list of charities, including those responding to the war in Ukraine, such as the American Red Cross and UNICEF. You can split your donation among up to five organizations.

jetblue

JetBlue TrueBlue members can donate between 500 and 500,000 points to a range of charities including World Central Kitchen, Americares and the American Red Cross that provide assistance in Ukraine. To do this, visit this page , select an organization (or split your points among several) and enter your account information.

United

From now until April 15, you can donate United MileagePlus miles to four humanitarian aid organizations in Ukraine : Airlink Flight, Americares, American Red Cross and World Central Kitchen.

To donate, visit the Miles on a Mission home page , then select one of the four organizations mentioned above and enter your MileagePlus account details. The minimum donation is 1000 miles and there is no maximum.
