What’s New on Netflix in January 2022

While Netflix may seem a little rich to launch a new comedy series that appears to be a direct parody of The Woman in the Window – the critical bomb that the streamer paid big bucks for to purchase from Disney during the pandemic, you might remember – arrival January 28, Kristen Bell will become the woman in the house across the street from the girl in the window . With a title that brings to mind such beloved (?) Parody classics as ” Squeal if you know what I did last Friday the 13th,” and ” Don’t pose a threat to South Center by sipping juice in the hood,” it is obvious where we are. for: The long-overdue destruction of the woman in danger genre following the success of Gone Girl (so as not to cast a shadow on Gone Girl ; all of these pop culture trends tend to arise because whatever provoked them was genuinely good) than that Jillian Flynn / David Fincher thriller definitely was).

The trailer definitely doesn’t seem to make sense: an isolated woman in a gorgeous house ( Girl on the Train, Woman in the Window )? Check. The main character with a drug addiction that makes him the most unreliable storyteller ( Woman in the Window )? Check. Lots of skillfully broken casseroles? Check. I don’t know which past one is in particular, but it’s funnier every time it happens. I honestly don’t know if there is enough meat on this bone to withstand the show for six more episodes of rear window rich vein and all that but The Simpsons did it all in one go, and I don’t know if enough people have bothered to watch The Woman in the Window to appreciate Kristen Bell’s tearing gaze at Amy Adams’ woeful performance with Oscar bait in this offensive film . But it will still come in January, and you probably won’t want to leave the house in January. Plus, the fees are a bit low this month. Created by James Wan, the Archive 81 podcast (January 14), which delves deeply into the eerie filmography of a fictional filmmaker who literally attracted cult followers, promising and many of you no doubt excited about the first part of the final season of the Jason Bateman crime drama and Laura Linney’s Ozarks (January 21). If not, your best bets seem to be among the plethora of new foreign TV series and films imported by Netflix, from Spanish horror thriller Wasteland (date to be confirmed) to Framed (January 27) and Italian murder detective / comedy that sounds as if it’s in the same vein as Only Murders in the Building .

Here’s everything on tap:
