Do Not Drink Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Maid Cans, Which May Be Contaminated With Metal

Attention soda and juice drinkers: If you are about to open a drink, this is a Coca-Cola product, you should check the label before taking a sip. That’s because some Minute Maid, Sprite, and Coca-Cola juices are part of the company’s recall.

Technically, these are two separate recalls (involving different batches of drinks), but both involve drinks potentially contaminated with foreign matter, including metal. Here’s what you need to know.

Minute Maid Review

The Coca-Cola Company (which owns Minute Maid products) has recalled some of its drinks because they may contain metal bolts or washers, according to the Food Safety Network . Potentially affected juices were distributed in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Maine, and New Jersey and did not expire until 2022.

Withdrawn Products:

  • Berry Punch – date codes Jan0422 NP and Jan0522 NP, lots 0010323455 and 0010259344 (remember F-0276-2022)
  • Strawberry Lemonade – Date Code: Jan0322 NP, Batch: 0010259346 (remember F-0277-2022)
  • Fruit Punch – Date Code: JAN0522 NP Batch: 0010323454 (remember F-0278-2022)

Coca-Cola and Sprite Review

This document was released on November 24, 2021, pursuant to the U.S. Department of Defense Memorandum on Food and Drug Administration. Again, the reason for the recall is the possible presence of “foreign substances” in the drinks – although this time no other information was provided as to what exactly this might have been. But we do know that the products were distributed in several southeastern states and also had a 2022 shelf life.

Here are the recalled products that are sold in rectangular “cold packs” of 12 cans:

  • 12 Oz Coca-Cola Cans : Date Code: AUG 1522 WM B
  • 12 Oz Coca-Cola Cans : Date Code: AUG 1522 WM C
  • Sprite 12 Oz Cans: Date Code: AUG 1522 WM B

If you purchased any of these Minute Maid, Coca-Cola, or Sprite products, do not drink them. Instead, return them to the store where you bought the drinks and refund them.
