Serving utensils
My stepmother and I talked a lot about Thanksgiving dinner, and they were all at least partly about serving spoons. We, as a couple, are always concerned about the shortage of serving spoons as there are never enough serving spoons. If you are bringing a dish for Thanksgiving dinner, be sure to bring serving spoons with you; If you are not bringing the dish, bring the serving spoons anyway. Someone else will surely forget them.
Towels (plate and paper persuasion)
Pretty kitchen towels are the perfect gift for a host, but they’re also incredibly practical. Whether you clean up clutter as it emerges or dry freshly rinsed wine glasses, these small towels are hugely popular on Turkey Day and it never hurts to have extra accessories. Paper towels are helpful too; yes, they are more wasteful, but some disturbances – like turkey fat spills – are too greasy and harsh for real kitchen towels. (Can you imagine if someone came to your home with a roll of paper towels and a nice kitchen towel? I would kiss them on the lips!)
Food containers, freezer bags and plastic wrap
Leftovers are almost as important as food, but I doubt your host will want to send everyone home with their best Tupperware. Bringing reusable soup containers, takeout boxes, Ziplock bags, and / or plastic wrap with you will help facilitate the distribution and storage of leftovers without sinking into your host’s already stressed supply.
Toilet paper
There will be a lot of asses at the dining table and most likely in the master’s bathroom. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the more cigarette butts, the more toilet paper, but nevertheless, creating an extra TP for your host is a genius move. Even if the host has a lot, they’ll appreciate that he doesn’t need to restock immediately after their guests head home. Like the food itself, everyone is happy when there is a lot of toilet paper.
