The Least Siri Can Do Is Pronounce Your Name Correctly

Siri is nobody’s favorite virtual assistant, and if he always mispronounces your name too, he doesn’t do much to please you. Back in iOS 14, you could tell Siri about incorrect pronunciation and tell you how to pronounce your name (or the name of another contact) correctly. This method was removed in iOS 15, but there is still a way to fix it.

How to fix incorrect pronunciation of Siri name in iOS 15

  1. Open the Contacts app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open the contact whose name is not pronounced correctly and click the Edit button in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Scroll down and click Add Field .
  4. Select a phonetic first name , phonetic middle name , or phonetic last name , if applicable. If you want to change the pronunciation of your company name, select Phonetic Company Name .
  5. Once these fields are added to the contact, scroll up and enter the correct phonetic pronunciation in these fields. (For example, if Siri mispronounces “Jacob,” you can type something like “Jay-Cub” to fix it.) If you have trouble figuring out how to spell a name phonetically so that Siri pronounces it correctly, you always you can try a Google search for “ [name] + pronunciation. »Google shows you how the word sounds (in both text and audio) in a neat box above the first result. Copy this text to your Contacts app and you should be fine.
