You Can Finally Use Google Maps in Dark Mode

Daylight saving time is over; darkness falls on Earth every day at 17:00. You stumble over your car, turn on the ignition, and fire up Google Maps to find the fastest route home, but you are dazzled by the brightest map you’ve ever seen in your life. damn life (it even reflects in the fucking windshield). Well, we can’t change the clock for you or use the power of the sun, but we can help you enable dark mode in Google Maps.

As reported by The Verge , Google has finally rolled out Dark Mode, which first hit the iPhone back in September. However, the company seems happy to keep this feature on DL and is only now alerting users to its presence with a pop-up window. However, if you haven’t seen the popup yet, it’s easy enough to enable dark mode in Google Maps, whether you’re using Android or iOS.

How to enable dark mode in Google Maps for iOS

Turning on dark mode on iPhone is easy. Launch the app first, then tap your profile in the upper right corner. Click Settings , then select Dark Mode . You will see three options:; ” On. “, Which turns on the dark mode; ” Off ” – turns off the dark mode; or ” Same as in device settings.

This last option will match the Google Maps theme for the rest of your iPhone; if you are using dark mode on your device, Google Maps will open in dark mode. If your iPhone is in light mode, you will also see Google Maps in light mode. I prefer this option as I like to keep all my apps in line with what the rest of my iPhone does.

This setting is especially useful if you’re using iOS’s auto dark mode. For example, my iPhone is set to turn on dark mode at sunset and turn it off at sunrise. This way, when it’s dark, my phone will be in dark mode; when the light is off, my phone is in light mode. When I open Google Maps at night, it now automatically starts in dark mode.

How to enable dark mode in Google Maps for Android

Setting up dark mode in Google Maps for Android is easy too. Open the app, then tap your profile. Select Settings , then select Theme . From here, you will be presented with the same three options as in iOS: On. “,” Off. “And” As in the device settings.

If you are using Android, you may already know that Google Maps has a dark mode; this feature was launched earlier this year after testing from September 2020. Since Google manufactures both Google Maps and Android, it should come as no surprise that this feature was the first to launch.
