The Best Ways to Use Your Garden Garden to Decorate Your Home

One of the benefits of having a garden or living in an area with access to wildflowers, plants and trees is being able to spend time outdoors surrounded by all kinds of greenery.

But why limit the enjoyment of them only on the street? Try some botanical decor. In an article for BobVila.com , craft and gardening expert Debbie Wolfe shares several indoor decorating options using plants, flowers, and herbs from your outdoor garden. Here are a few.

Fresh garlands

There are many ways to use garlands – as table runners, on capes woven into spindles on stairs – and if you have your own greenery (and time), making your own is pretty straightforward, according to Wolfe, who is also the author of Homemade garden projects, handicrafts and crafting with herbs .

Here are instructions Wolfe to create fresh garlands of their hands:

First, collect greenery, such as grasses and foliage from trees and shrubs, and secure each bundle with green rubber band or flower wire. Use dry flower heads or fresh flowers for coloring and tie them together as well.

Cut off some jute or cotton twine and place it on the table. Make it longer than you think – it’s easier to trim excess length. Leave a 6 cm piece of twine at each end. Add a bunch of greens starting at one end. Attach it to the twine using flower wire.

Then add a bunch of flowers and then a bunch of greenery. Alternate the bunches as you move towards the end of the twine. Sprinkle water on the garland daily to keep it looking fresh.

Drying herbs

Not sure what to do with all the herbs growing in your garden (especially in the run-up to fall)? Wolfe suggests collecting them in bunches – remembering that they will halve as the plants dry – with a rubber band and / or twine and hang them up with the twine. Decor is also a useful way to dry out your seasonal herbs.

Natural wreaths

Like a garland, DIY wreaths from materials from your garden are a great way to bring them out indoors. Wolfe gives detailed instructions on how to make a natural wreath in his article .
