Appear in the Next Virtual Meeting As a Pixar Character

Look, we’ve all spent way too much time on video calls over the past year or so, but we’re sticking to our best to keep our time on Zoom (or Teams or Google Meet) bearable, if not a little fun. With the Delta variant coming in , it’s obviously time to turn yourself into a cartoon character.

We’ve covered a few of the hacks for applying filters and effects for different video chat platforms, and the last thing to try is Cartoon Style Filter Snap – a camera that transforms a face into a generic character straight from a Dreamworks or Pixar movie ( h / t Edge ).

Basically, this lens is applied to a cartoon human head, reminiscent of Ratatoullie ‘s Alfredo Linguini or Elsa from freeze. The only thing you need to do is download the Snapchat Snap Camera desktop app and change the camera settings for your virtual meeting platform and you’re good to go. Here are the steps.

How to add a cartoon style filter to your video chat app

  1. Close your desktop video chat apps (Zoom, Meet, Teams, etc.).
  2. Download and install Snap Camera .
  3. Grant the app permission to access your camera and microphone by agreeing to the pop-ups.
  4. When prompted, choose “Open Snap Camera” or open the app from your desktop.
  5. Enter “Cartoon Style” in the search bar and enable this filter. You can also browse or search for other Snap Camera filters (like the infamous cat face ).
  6. Open the video chat app again.
  7. Change the camera to “Snap Camera” in the app settings. If you need help with this step, please click the Show me how link in Snap Camera under Go Live With this Camera.
  8. To return to your normal face, disable the lens in Snap Camera or change the video input settings in the app to use your regular camera. You can also configure hotkeys inside Snap Camera to turn lenses on and off.
