Summer rains bring vinegars from their burrows in search of food and love. Vinegars are about 3 inches long and are relatively harmless unless you irritate them. To protect themselves, they can pinch themselves with heavy mouthpieces (pedipalps) and fire a targeted jet of 85% acetic acid (vinegar) from the base of their whip.
