“Acid-Swimming Earth Lobsters” and 12 Other Terrifying, Strange and Amazing Creatures

I’m sure I don’t need to remind you of the 2020 Hornet killing saga , but you should know that 2021 is trying to surpass what seemed impossible – by gifting us (or at least Texas) the emergence of arachnid type of some people. lovingly call them acid-spitting land lobsters. Honestly, it’s not exactly an accurate description of this creature … well, except for this whole acid thing.

As Big Bend National Park explains :

Summer rains bring vinegars from their burrows in search of food and love. Vinegars are about 3 inches long and are relatively harmless unless you irritate them. To protect themselves, they can pinch themselves with heavy mouthpieces (pedipalps) and fire a targeted jet of 85% acetic acid (vinegar) from the base of their whip.

Anyway, these funky guys got me thinking about a subreddit that I especially like, called Animals I Didn’t Know Existed. This is where the editors post all sorts of weird, creepy, and otherwise amazing creatures we didn’t know existed. Let’s check a few, okay?
