Spend the Weekend With a Drunk B&B

I am, to quote my favorite show , the most exhausting I have ever been in my life. There is no real reason for this, other than the fact that I have incredibly active, confusing dreams every night that are not quite soothing. I feel sluggish and awkward and I don’t want to shake or interfere with a single drink.

I still want to drink , but I have no strength to “get dressed” and “go to the bar”. Luckily for me and anyone else who might also tire out for no real reason, there are many delicious drinks to make right in the cocktail glass, including a sophisticated B&B (Brandy and Benedictine).

It’s actually a two-way cocktail, but it gets away with it because both ingredients are so flavorful. While it is supposed to be made with “good” brandy, I’m happy to report that it works great for a $ 9 bottle. (This is thanks to the Benedictine spirit, which is one of a kind, extremely spicy and herbal spirit that has no substitute.)

If you have a “good” brandy, this cocktail at room temperature is worth a try, but it is quite good with ice. (It’s a lot of fun if this ice is folded into one big cube; I love the “ringing jingle” it makes when you spin it.) To make this outstanding drink, you will need:

  • 1 1/2 ounce benedictine
  • 1 1/2 ounce brandy
  • 1 strip of lemon zest

Pour both liquids into a glass and stir. Add ice if desired. Squeeze the oils from a strip of lemon zest into the drink, then rub the zest around the edge of the glass before tossing it in. This bed and breakfast is especially well suited for an after-dinner drink, best borrowed from the library while sitting in a leather armchair.
