How to Install the IOS 15 and IPadOS 15 Public Beta

Every fall, it is compulsory for Apple to release major new versions of its operating systems for the iPhone and iPad. And, as always, if you’re curious about new features in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, there is a way to skip the queue and try them out now using the public beta.

By joining Apple’s own public beta program, you can try out all the features of the new operating system, but there is a caveat: since these OS updates are still beta, they may not be completely stable. You might run into bugs or crashes here and there (although generally public beta is more stable than developer beta ), so you might not want to install it on a device you rely on every day.

If that suits you, then nothing bothers you. Once you enroll in Apple’s public beta program, you will receive a free wireless update to your new operating system. Before we start, make sure you back up your data (using iCloud or by creating a local backup on your computer).

How to download and install the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 public beta

Updating your device’s OS to the public beta is not much different from installing a regular update – after you sign up for the program. Here’s how to get started.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Safari and go to the Apple Beta Program website .
  2. Scroll down, click the Sign In button and sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. On the “Guidelines for public beta versions of the” select top “iOS” or «iPadOS», depending on your device.
  4. In the Getting Started section, click Register an iOS Device if you’re using an iPhone or Register an iPadOS Device if you’re using an iPad.
  5. Scroll down to the Install Profile section and click Download Profile.
  6. Click ” Allow ” to load the configuration profile; after the download is complete, click the ” Close ” button.
  7. Open your device’s Settings app and tap the Profile Loaded section that you see at the top.
  8. Click ” Install ” to start the process. You will be prompted for a password. Click the Install button twice to start the installation.
  9. When finished, restart your iPhone or iPad using the Restart Now button.

After rebooting the iPhone or iPad, open the application “Settings” and go to “General”> “Software update” to locate a public beta update. Click ” Download and Install ” and go racing!

If you have any problems launching the beta and want to downgrade, you can always reset your iPhone or iPad to stable by restoring it from a backup, but remember to first save any recent data that you don’t want to lose. …

How to exit the iOS 15 public beta

Now that you have installed your public beta profile, you will continue to receive beta updates in the future. With the official launch of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, you’ll also get a stable version of the OS – this is a good time to ditch the public beta.

To do this, open the app “Settings” and select “Main”> “and the VPN device management”> “Profile beta version of iOS iPadOS 15 and 15”. Click the Remove Profile button, enter your password and click Remove to get rid of the beta profile.

After you reboot your device, you will be back to the stable update channel.

What to expect from iOS 15 and iPadOS 15

iOS 15 brings significant improvements to the iPhone’s communication and personal well-being features. FaceTime is undergoing a major overhaul (no doubt thanks to the increased demand for group video messaging caused by the pandemic) with support for grid view, portrait mode, and FaceTime on the web. SharePlay finally lets you share media with your friends while using FaceTime.

On the personal front, there is a Focus feature that is similar to the Do Not Disturb mode on steroids. Finally, you can create custom Do Not Disturb modes for different actions, giving you granular control over how an app or person can contact you.

There are many more new features you can check out in our iOS 15 roundup , but by far we love Live Text the most: your iPhone or iPad can now recognize text on any image and convert it to selectable text. Pretty damn cool.

iPadOS 15, on the other hand, is finally getting home screen widgets (including a very large widget). And there’s another version of the iPad’s multitasking system – this time Apple has added a button at the top of the screen that lets you easily pin apps in Split View and Slide Over modes.
