What’s New at Paramount + July 2021
I signed up for Paramount Plus even before launch when they offered 50% off if you were willing to pay a year in advance. It seemed like the right decision when I was drinking the first season of Real World in preparation for the debut of the reunion special 30 years later. Since then, I definitely haven’t used it enough to get my $ 5 off. This isn’t all that surprising: while The Mountain seems to be late to Streaming Wars, Paramount Plus is actually just an updated CBS All-Access service, another service I could use outside of the release window for new seasons. from Star Trek Discovery . Has anything changed in a few months? It looks like the streamer is starting to build a library of old movies, which is never a bad thing, but the Paramount Plus Originals roster is, shall we say, boring so far. Would the July list convince you to sign up if you haven’t already? Well, in June, Mark Wahlberg ‘s sci-fi film debuted , which received terrible reviews , and July can’t even boast of it – but I’m not unhappy that I get the chance to watch a tape of the withered-too-early Broadway musical adaptation of SpongeBob SquarePants.
