What’s New on HBO Max in July 2021

Everyone loves to joke that time is a flat circle, but the mid-2000s reboot of the show about the decadent lives of Manhattan’s super-rich high school students, while the country is still going through another financial crisis (if it’s a very different type than the 2008 crash) is a bit … on the nose, let’s put it this way. Of course, there is always room for another escapist teen soap and “new” Gossip Girl (July 8) trailer that was titled “A Sequel” rather than a reboot , although connections to the original series will reportedly be minor – definitely promises more scandalous behavior and the pornography wealth that gave the franchise its infamous reputation . However, the producers (the team behind the show includes original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage) promised that these kids will be a little more aware of their privilege than their ancestors ( no “whore shame” or “cat fights” ). but we’ll see how it goes. Luckily, we still have Kristen Bell on board as an acidic sweet-tongued storyteller ready to gut them at every turn (although this time she will be confronting for Instagram accounts, and than blogging times have really changed). Also arriving this month. , another premiere of HBO Max, this time No Sudden Movement (July 1), a clever heist thriller from Oscar-winning Steven Soderbergh that looks like a low-key, serious, adult stellar drama rarely filmed these days. … Check out the trailer and try not to be overjoyed when you see Don Cheadle trying to hold back Benicio del Toro:

Here’s a list of everything HBO Max is coming (and going) in July 2021. Titles with (HBO) next to them are available on HBO and HBO Max; everything else is exclusive to HBO Max.
