How to Add Multiple Accounts to Your Amazon Echo
One of the benefits of the Amazon smart speaker is that anyone can ask Alexa to play music, set a timer, or perform any number of basic functions, regardless of whose Amazon account was used to set up the device.
But what if multiple family members have separate accounts and all of you want to be notified or make Prime purchases with the same Echo? The Amazon Household feature extends to Alexa-enabled devices , which means you can link two adult accounts (and multiple teen and child accounts) to a single speaker.
Connecting multiple adult accounts (with separate accounts ) gives both users the right to shop using their own associated payment methods. Your Echo will also broadcast notifications, make and receive calls, and display Amazon photos (for devices with screens) from both accounts.
How to add an account to Amazon Echo
First, to create a household, go to the Amazon household page and click the Add Adult button. You can also add teenagers and children here. You will be prompted for a username and email address to send them an invitation to join your family.
Once he makes a decision, you will see his profile on the Home Management page. If you want to switch from one account to another right on your Alexa-enabled device (for example, to use a different payment method), say “Alexa, change account”. To remind you which account is active, say “Alexa, identify your account.”
Please note that teens ages 13-17 with linked family accounts can shop using their own accounts with permission from the adult account managers. Children under 12 years old cannot. A family can include up to four teenagers and four children.
How to remove an account from Amazon Echo
If you’d like to remove an account from your family, go to the Manage Your Family page and click Remove under the person’s profile icon. You can also leave the household. This, even by accident, will block both people from joining another family for 180 days , although Amazon customer support may lift this restriction.
Please note that household management must be done on the website – this feature is not available in the Amazon or Alexa apps.
