How to Fix Your Nintendo Switch If You Get Error 2123-1502
Stability issues are rare on Nintendo Switch, but recent firmware 12.0.3 is one of those rare cases where an update causes a widespread bug on the console. Many users have reported that they receive error code 2123-1502 when trying to download or update games from the online store, which prevents them from downloading any software. Nintendo briefly paused the release of the firmware to try to fix the bug, but it seems the issue is still showing up for some users.
Fortunately, there are several workarounds that can fix error 2123-1502 on your switch.
Check your Wi-Fi network
The first possible solution is simple:
- Make sure you are connected to the correct Wi-Fi network in System Preferences> Internet> Internet Settings> [connection name]> Connect to this network.
- Power off the switch completely (hold the power button for three seconds, then choose Power> Power Off ).
- Reboot the switch and try booting again.
Clear cache
If these preliminary steps don’t work, Nintendo Support suggests clearing the Switch user profile cache to resolve the issue. This will delete your console’s web search history, including cookies and saved website login information, but it will not affect your games, downloaded content, user preferences or saved data.
- Go to System Preferences> System> Formatting Options.
- Select “Reset cache”.
- Select the profile for which you want to reset the cache.
- Select “Reset” to perform a reset.
- Repeat these steps for all user profiles on the console.
Use Google DNS settings
Another possible fix reported by some users is to change the DNS settings of the switch console to Google DNS in Wi-Fi settings.
- Go to System Preferences> Internet> Internet Settings.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list of networks.
- Select Change Settings.
- Scroll down and change your DNS settings to Manual.
- Set the primary DNS address to 8.8.8.8.
- Set your secondary DNS address to 8.8.4.4.
- Select “Save”.
- Go back and download again.
If that doesn’t work, or if you have new connection problems somehow, go back to your network settings and change your DNS settings to Automatic again .
Retry upload
One final do-it-yourself solution is to simply repeat the download until it works. Some users claim to have overcome error 2123-1502 this way, so give it a try – just note that this will only work for this particular download. The same error message may appear for other downloads as well.
Again, since the bug is rooted in iOS 12.0.3, these are only temporary solutions. The bug may persist until Nintendo finds a fix and releases another patch.
