How to Cast YouTube TV From Phone or Laptop to TV

YouTube and Roku don’t play very well. The two companies failed to reach a contractual agreement and YouTube TV is no longer supported by Roku products, including all streaming devices and smart TVs with Roku OS.

They might be able to smooth things over in the future, but at the moment YouTube TV is no longer used on the Roku channel store. Users can still use the app if it’s installed on their Roku device, but you’ll need to find an alternative way to watch YouTube TV if you uninstall it or if Roku turns off support entirely.

However, many other devices support YouTube TV. Maybe your TV even has native YouTube apps that you can install, and if your computer or laptop can connect to the TV, you can watch through Chrome or Firefox.

But there is another option if your TV, game consoles, or streaming devices don’t support YouTube TV: you can stream YouTube TV to your TV from your Android PC or Apple device via AirPlay.

Most smart TVs have built-in translation or AirPlay, but you can also broadcast a YouTube TV on any device that supports Chromecast or AirPlay, connected to your TV.

  2. Select the device you want to stream to. Provide connection permissions if required.
  3. YouTube TV will open on your TV and all current media will start playing automatically.

From iOS / iPadOS via Airplay:

  2. Open YouTube TV on your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Tap the AirPlay symbol in the upper right corner of the app.
  4. Select the device you want to connect.
  5. Once connected, YouTube TV will appear on your TV.
