What’s New on HBO Max in May 2021

Last summer, director Christopher Nolan dared to think Tenet is a movie that people risk their lives to watch. The first major blockbuster to open in theaters after the outbreak of the pandemic, it was also … the last major blockbuster to open in theaters after some kind of explosion. But it’s getting closer to HBO Max this month, dropping unexpectedly on a streaming service like so many other mega hits of 2020. The circle is complete. Everything is still terrible. Maybe, except for Tenet ? I have not seen him yet (because after March 11, 2020 I did not really want to sit in the theater). Of course, there were reviews all over the place; either another brilliant fucking mind at the Inception level, or an incomprehensible disaster. (Although speaking of the obscure, the muted audio mix is one thing that everyone seems to hate together.) I look forward to seeing and knowing where I’m falling when it happens on May 1st; the only thing I know for sure right now is that Robert Pattinson looks good in these suits. And I have to appreciate his beauty because Nolan doesn’t like giving women prominent or interesting roles in his films. Yes, I said it. HBO Max’s big concurrent streaming / theatrical release this month is Those Who Wish Me Death (May 14), Angelina Jolie’s bushfire-fighting film with an artsy title and a fantastic trailer:

In other news, Adventure Time fans can enjoy the next installment of Far Lands , the sequel / miniseries of the show, and therapy fans will be thrilled with the surprise appearance of Season 4 of The Heal despite being completely new composition and creative team . Plus, if you missed out on Wonder Woman 1984 during its short release window in December, he now returns to join the rest of the DCEU at his permanent streaming home. Here’s a list of everything HBO Max’s coming (and going) in May. 2021. Titles with (HBO) next to them are available on HBO and HBO Max; everything else is exclusive to HBO Max.
