How to Watch a SpaceX Rocket Launch

The next launch of the SpaceX Starlink satellite is sure to take place the other day. The first launch, scheduled for February 28 , was unexpectedly automatically interrupted despite the rocket being fully operational. After the postponed launch to March 1 was also canceled due to bad weather, SpaceX announced plans to try again tomorrow.

The launch is scheduled for Thursday, March 4, the time will be announced later, and you can follow what is happening live without leaving your home.

When and where to watch

The launch takes place from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and there are three ways to watch it unfold, all free and online. You can watch live on Space.com or the SpaceX YouTube channel. You can also tune in directly from the SpaceX website. New launch times have yet to be announced, but stay tuned to Space X and space.com for updates. Expect the stream to start 15 minutes before kickoff, so be sure to log in ahead of schedule to catch the mission countdown.

This is SpaceX’s sixth launch in 2021, and one of at least 40 launches the company plans to complete this year, doubling the number from 2020. It is hoped that the booster and rocket will be able to make ten full voyages before major repairs are required.

What is a SpaceX launch for?

The mission plans to send a fleet of 60 satellites into orbit using the B1049 Falcon 9 rocket, adding to the 1,000 already orbiting the planet (not counting the 200 prototypes sent during test launches). In total, SpaceX plans to launch 1,440 satellites into low-level orbit around the Earth to complete the Starlink network , which aims to provide end-to-end commercial Internet services in locations where service is currently unstable or otherwise unavailable. (Of course: as soon as you get 5G, a new network appears).

“With more people working from home and more students participating in virtual learning, Internet connectivity is more important than ever,” SpaceX said in a statement. “With Starlink, we can quickly deploy to the areas that need it most.” The internet service is due to launch later this year.
